Researches have shown that an average human being blinks their eyes 20 times in a minute. But, it is also seen that when they use computers, watch movies or play video games, they tend to blink their eyes only 7-10 times per minute. It becomes a primary reason for cornea getting dehydrated and further, causes burn or ache.
Blinking of eyes every often would keep them moist. It helps to wash the eyes in a natural way with healing tears.
Take the 20/20/20 Rule Seriously
You must be aware of the 20/20/20 practice for eyes! It is recommended by many ophthalmologists to take care of eye vision. The rule is a simple exercise, which deals with staring an object 20 feet away from you for 20 seconds for every 20 minutes.
20/20/20 exercise would ensure proper working of the eye. Moreover, it also avoids any difficulty in focusing or refocusing of nearby or distant objects. You can even consider a break from watching the computer or TV by taking a long loo break.
Keep a Check at Your Computer Display Settings
It is supposed to be one of the uncomplicated solutions to relax your eyes from straining. Just adjust the computer settings you work on, this settings may include:
- Make sure the size of texts you are reading is in contrast and is comfortable to read.
- Adjust your computer’s brightness according to the work environment.
- Reduce the color temperature of your computer. It would help in lessening the blue light that may fry your eyes.

Performing Eye Exercises
Eye strain is primarily the straining of sensitive tissues present in your eyes. Eye exercises would help you in strengthening your eye muscles. These eye exercises are effective in relieving the eye pain by reducing tension built in the tissues of eyes, and by rendering flexibility to them.
Go For Palming
If you are a busy individual and find difficult to perform any of the eye exercises, then you can take palming as a choice to ease your eye tissues. It can relax your eyes in just a few seconds.
In palms, you need to cover the eyes with your palms to block any ray of light entering inside. Keep your hands over your closed eyes for 1-3 minutes to achieve full relaxation of the eyes.
