Apart from conventional ways to deal with Glaucoma, there are significant ways of treating glaucoma naturally. It may sound surprising but few lifestyle changes can lower blood pressure and also further can lower your eye pressure, thus helping to prevent and even cure glaucoma.

The best amongst them are as follows:

Reduce Your Insulin Levels

Since your insulin levels rise, it causes your blood pressure, and possibly also your eye pressure, to increase. It may cause the human body to become insulin resistant, and studies show insulin resistance, which is not uncommon in people with diabetes, obesity and higher blood pressure is closely connected to eye pressure.

The remedy is to avoid sugar and grains, both “food groups” that will necessarily cause distress on your insulin levels. Even entire grains can break down so they too must be prevented. So in addition to sugar, if you have glaucoma or are concerned about it, you will want to avoid foods such as:

  • Potatoes

  • Rice

  • Bread

  • Pasta

  • Cereal

Exercise Regularly

Among the most effective methods to decrease your insulin levels is through exercise. A regular exercise program consisting of strength training type exercises, and pilates can go a long way toward lowering your insulin levels and protecting your vision.

Additional Suggestions to Maintain Your Vision Healthy

As part of your overall schedule to maintain your eyesight clean and problem-free, even as you age, make sure you are performing the following:

  • Consuming dark-colored berries. The European blueberry, bilberry, is also known to prevent and reverse macular degeneration, and bioflavonoids from additional berries such as others, cranberries and blueberries will be advantageous. They function by strengthening the capillaries that carry nutrients to eye muscles and nerves. However, because berries include natural sugar they need to be eaten in moderation to avoid upsetting your blood glucose levels.

  • Taking a plant-based omega-3 fat supplement. A form of omega-3 fat known as docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) may help to safeguard and encourage healthy bronchial function. DHA is concentrated in the retina of your eye and has been shown to be particularly useful in preventing macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness.

  • Omega-3 fat, such as DHA, is seen in fish, however, I do not advise eating fish because of the concerns of toxins that were found in fish from oceans, rivers and lakes and farm-raised fish. Instead, my highly recommended resource of omega-3 fat would be in palnt oil form.

  • Some outstanding sources include spinach, collard greens, spinach, broccoli, brussels sprouts, and egg yolks, especially raw egg yolks. Egg yolks have zeaxanthin, another carotenoid, in a number that was equal to lutein. Zeaxanthin is likely to be in shielding vision equally powerful as lutein.

  • Obtaining tons of lutein and zeaxanthin. Several have never heard of both of these vision powerhouses, but they’re incredibly important for your eyesight. Lutein, which is a carotenoid found in quantities in green leafy vegetables, functions as an antioxidant, protecting cells from free radical damage.
